Curledge Street Takes to the airwaves!

Radio Ahead is a project funded by BBC Children in Need. It allows our staff to visit primary schools, reaching out to new young people and giving them the opportunity to learn new skills, be creative, and socialise with others in their year group.

We visited Curledge Street School in Paignton, where we worked with eight Year 6 pupils. Over the course of three weeks, the young people became radio presenters and created group shows that aired on Ocean Youth Radio.

The shows airs on Wednesday 18th, Thursday 19th , and Friday 20th March Repeating at 2.45 and 6pm Daily.

We now have a brand-new cohort of amazing, aspiring presenters, all of whom are invited to join our Saturday sessions and continue being creative. In this cohort, presenters are producing shows on a range of topics, from Minecraft to music. Be sure to check the Ocean Youth Radio app schedule to find out when our new presenters are live on air.

The opportunity to visit primary schools and meet new young people has been incredibly rewarding. Their creativity is inspiring, and it allows us to introduce them to radio before they move on to Year 7.

300 Seconds: Special Episode!

We’re excited to share a special episode of 300 Seconds our award winning mental health podcast, for Children’s Mental Health Week.

In this episode, Daisy looks back at some of the most powerful and memorable moments from the series, highlighting the voices, experiences, and topics that matter most to young people.

Grace is joined by Lincoln Sargeant, Director of Public Health at Torbay Council, for an important conversation about young people’s mental health. Together, they talk about the challenges young people face today, why mental health support matters, and how having the right support around you can make a big difference.

You can listen back now on the Ocean Youth app, or click here to listen.
