EASTER SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED!

To celebrate the end of the spring term, and the beginning of the Easter holidays, Ocean Youth and Sonar are bringing you a brand new Easter schedule. The schedule will feature brand new never been heard before shows, Easter themed shows and much more!

This image shows a rectangular graphic with a soft pink background and a spring/Easter theme. Along the bottom edge, there is a strip of green grass.

On the left hand side, there is a circular ‘Ocean Youth’ logo. At the top of the log there are a pair of white bunny ears sticking up, making them Easter themed.

On the right hand side, there is a ‘Sonar’ logo in a stylised font. Sitting above the logo is a small yellow chick, reinforcing Easter themes.

Look below at our amazing schedule, containing all of your favourite presenters and shows.

Easter Monday: Schools Takeover

Schools Takeover is here!

Over the past few months, we’ve been working with primary schools across Torbay, running after-school clubs where students planned and recorded their very own radio shows all about school life.

Through the RadioAhead project, Year 6 students have been building confidence, creativity, and finding their voice as they prepare for secondary school, all through radio, podcasting, and music-making in a safe, supportive space.

Funded by @bbccin

Tune in on Easter Monday to hear all the episodes live!

Curledge Street Takes to the airwaves!

Radio Ahead is a project funded by BBC Children in Need. It allows our staff to visit primary schools, reaching out to new young people and giving them the opportunity to learn new skills, be creative, and socialise with others in their year group.

We visited Curledge Street School in Paignton, where we worked with eight Year 6 pupils. Over the course of three weeks, the young people became radio presenters and created group shows that aired on Ocean Youth Radio.

The shows airs on Wednesday 18th, Thursday 19th , and Friday 20th March Repeating at 2.45 and 6pm Daily.

We now have a brand-new cohort of amazing, aspiring presenters, all of whom are invited to join our Saturday sessions and continue being creative. In this cohort, presenters are producing shows on a range of topics, from Minecraft to music. Be sure to check the Ocean Youth Radio app schedule to find out when our new presenters are live on air.

The opportunity to visit primary schools and meet new young people has been incredibly rewarding. Their creativity is inspiring, and it allows us to introduce them to radio before they move on to Year 7.
