Primary School Pupils take to the airwaves on Ocean Youth Radio!

Over the past few months, children from four primary schools in Paignton have been taking part in the Radiohead Project- a project delivered by Ocean Youth Radio/Sound Communities and supported and funded by BBC Children in Need.

RadioAhead offers vulnerable young people aged 11–12 a safe and supportive space to explore their creativity, connect with peers, and develop new skills through music, radio and media production.

Through these fun sessions, participants created jingles, co-produced shows, and eventually presented their own live group broadcasts. For many, it was a transformative journey. One young participant arrived to Ocean Youth Radio barely speaking and left leading her own live show with confidence and joy- “absolutely buzzing” to come back.

Just wanted to say thank for today. She is absolutely buzzing and definitely wants to come back. You were all amazing with her.
Just wanted to say thank you again. I love seeing her so happy like that.

Following the success of the clubs, several of the young people have now joined the Ocean Youth team and are presenting their own individual radio shows live from the Ocean Youth studios on Winner Street, Paignton every Saturday. Their voices, stories and passions will be shared with local audiences throughout May on Ocean Youth Radio.

RadioAhead shows will be airing (Repeated):
